Post-round write-ups from the commissioner

FullSizeRender TONAWANDA, NY - Week-2 of the Putter-In-Hand league may turn out to be a night participants look back at and wonder what could have been had an under-the-weather Mark VeRost stayed home and not powered through a draining round of putt-putt. VeRost texted league commissioner Jeff Luke at 2:49 to inform him he wasn't going to make it but Luke convinced VeRost to play and boy did he. With 3 holes-in-one, VeRost shot a league record 16 on the back-9 to record a week-2 best score of 40.  The victory puts VeRost in 2nd place overall. Speaking of second place, Tom Barbops finished as the bridesmaid once again by posting a respectable 41 behind a week-2 front-9 best of 19. His steady performance puts Barbops atop the overall standings. Reports have it that he was on top when he got home too. 3 golfers that played together took 3rd and 4th places with Jeff Luke scoring a 42 and Whitey Ondak and Brian Kimpel recording 43's with 2 holes-in-one each. Ondak was looking like he was ready for the green jacket before taking a 5 on the 8th hole and Kimpel scored an impressive 18 on the back-9. Luke moved into 3rd overall while Kimpel sits tied for 4th and Ondak alone in 8th. Also scoring 43's were Jay Flemming and Jeff Kelly. For the second week in a row, these two players tied one another in score and failed to record a hole-in-one. This has cost them valuable points in the overall standings. Both players share 4th place with two others. Week-1 winner Tim Remy started off the night with a first hole ace and was immediately asked if he was going to wear the green jacket home / to Denny's again in week-2 and if he thought he was going to be able to maintain this high level of performance. Remy replied "In bed, on the course, my performance has never been an issue." According to SEVERAL unnamed sources, this night's performance for Remy was like most of his nights as he was unable to keep it up. Remy and Dean Trzewieczynski scored a 44 with 2 holes-in-one each. Impressively, Trzewieczynski recorded holes-in-one on the 1st and 18th holes. Remy slides to tied for 4th overall while Trzewieczynski moves up a few spots to 11th. Also scoring 44's was Jim Neville and Scott Wilson. Both failed to record a hole-in-one costing them valuable points in the overall standings. Neville shot a respectable 20 on the front but choked in the back shooting a 24. Wilson recorded a 5 on hole-2 but otherwise shot all 2's and 3's the other 17-holes. Neville sits in 9th place overall while Wilson is one place behind him in 10th. Rounding out those in the 40's is Joe Neeson, Tim Roesch and Steve Steck shooting a 46, 47, and 49 respectively. Neeson recorded back to back 23's while Steck recorded the worse week-2 front-9 27. Roesch shaved 5 strokes off the front by shooting a nice 21 on the back-9. Neeson sits in 12th, Steck in 14th and Roesch in 15th. That brings us to the bottom-2 Kevin Kelly and Harald Rehm. Kevin Kelly dropped a paltry 50 by recording back-to-back 25's. He currently sits in 13th place overall but is just glad to be mentioned in this week's recap. After failing to get a mention, Kevin Kelly, the not as big brother of Jeff Kelly, made his feelings known by taking it out on the course. Not by scoring well, but rather by pissing on every hole. Surveillance cameras captured this heinous act (shown below) and the league is taking action. The strange part is how he squats like a girl while pissing. This is a mens league! A hearing will be held at league headquarters on Monday.  IMG_5157 And just when you think it can't get any worse Rehm, after shooting a league worse 54 in week-1, shot 3 strokes worse in week-2 and recorded a 57. Needless to say he sits in last place overall. And finally, Rehm did find victory after the round and in the bar as he went undefeated on the dartboard. Pairing with Luke, Rehm and Luke beat Flemming and Kimpel in 4 straight matches. Rehm strutted out of the Dome and took the path all champions that leave the Dome take. He, and his mentor Remy along with Roesch, were spotted at no other place than Denny's telling patrons they were on tour as part of a Village People Cover-band.
