Post-round write-ups from the commissioner

Putter-In-Hand! The stylin’, profilin’, most electrifyin’, high competin’, putt putting league returns less than a week from today!

Putter-In-Hand will make its triumphant return on October 6th. This, the 5th season, marks the return of many familiar faces as well as several newbies trying to bring home the green jacket.

Since Jeff Luke was crowned PIH League Champion 1,386 days ago, the putt-putt world witnessed the installation of a new roof at the dome, the removal of sand from the bunkers, a pandemic, attempted takedown of the PIH commissioner, and most surprisingly, the birth of two Coyle babies.

No one would have predicted the fastest growing putt-putt league in the country at the time would have survived all that only to return larger and more diverse than ever before.

Larger? Yes, larger. The field for the 2022 season has expanded to 27+ putters. Previous high was 25 in 2018.

More diverse? Yes. We have our first female competitor, Kelly Caito, who has one goal in her first season: “As long as I finish ahead of Jay Flemming, my first season will be considered a success.” she told the Spice Creek Times. She continued “I own him. I wiped his ass on the cornhole pitch over the summer at the boathouse and I plan to do the same on the links. Jay talked so much shit and I showed him I’m not to be taken lightly.” When asked if she should maybe set her goals a little lower such as Harald Rehm or Scott Verost she laughed “Please. Those bitches? They belong in the Women’s League hitting from the red tees. Me. I’m going for the men.”

It’s not entirely sure what she may have been implying with that final statement but we’ll find out a week from today.

The schedule for Thursday is as follows:

  • 12:00-4:00 – Tailgating Lunch with Shawn Conschafter sponsored by Anchor Marine
  • 4:00-5:00 – Early Bird Dinner with Scott Wilson
  • 5:00-6:00 – Happy “Harald” Hour
  • 6:00-6:30 – Meet & Greet, Threesomes Announced, & Rules Review with the Commissioner
  • 6:30 – Honorary Starter by Whitey Ondak
  • 6:35 – Shotgun Start
  • 8:00 – Week-1 Results & Green Jacket Ceremony Announced @ The Grill
  • 8:30-11:00 – Wings with Jay Flemming
  • 11:00 – Hallway Putting with the GIX (Grand Island 10)
  • 12:00 – Uber Rides

As you see, the schedule is as tight as Dr. Joe Mills’ last patient. The course closes at 8:00 in October and November so we’ll need to tee-off most weeks at 6:45. Please be prompt and Venmo "Jeff-Lukasavich" $90 prior to teeing off week-one or bring cash the day of.

Unless you like the Rinky-Dink putter and colored balls, be sure to bring your own.
