Post-round write-ups from the commissioner

TONAWANDA, NY – It only took 32 rounds for original GI6 member Joe Neeson to finally sit atop the putt-putt world and take home the Green Jacket....by finishing 2nd?

Neeson has been in the league since it's first stroke in 2015 and has finished in 2nd place four times in his career. Unlike those four second place finishes, this week's finish allowed him to proudly sport the elusive green jacket.

Due to a well-known PIH rule, only those members that are present the day of the league are eligible to claim the jacket. With a pre-putt 35 & 2, tying the course record, Chris Wilkinson was not eligible for the green jacket. Ironically, Wilkinson who has proven to be one of the more dominant putters in the league, has not won the green jacket.

So, here we have a putter with an illustrious career without a green jacket finishing 1st, while a seemingly irrelevant putter sports the jacket and claims the spotlight for the 1st time.

"So this is what Conschafter, Coyle, Mondoux, and Neville have felt like?" said a proud Neeson afterwards. "I can't wait to go home and get the action from the wife just like those guys had said they got from theirs."

When asked if he will tell his wife that he actually finished 2nd Neeson changed his tone. "You know what? I earned this fucking jacket. Nothing anyone in the league can take this honor away from me. I'm riding this high all the way home. Check please!" he exclaims as he raises his arm and snaps his fingers at the waitress.

After receiving the check, Neeson's tone changed once again. "$81!?!?" he cried. Flagging down the young waitress, working to put herself through college, Neeson pointed out "Excuse me maam. You seemed to have overcharged us?" he questioned.

After reviewing the bill it appeared the waitress charged Neeson and his date, Jason Cox, for two double orders of wings and two pitchers, twice what they ordered! Seeing as they ate and drank it all, the charges stood.

"Fuck this league. Fuck the Grill. Nothing I do is ever good enough." Neeson cried before exiting, dragging the green jacket behind him like a depressed Linus and his blanket. "I just hope no one tells my wife before I get home that I didn't really win."

Cox was seen texting someone on his way out. Source close to the group believe it was Neeson's wife. "What a Cox blocker." laughed Brian Holden as he waved goodbye.

In other news, John Coyle is under scrutiny as the league is looking into reports of an unknown substance found on his balls.

As putters gathered for a pre-game drink, Coyle whipped out one of his balls and proudly said to the group "Check 'em out." Barbops, always looking for a good time and with no boundaries, quickly grabbed 'em from Coyle.

"What the hell Coyle. What is on your balls?" Barbops questioned.

League officials quickly confiscated the ball in question and called for a Rules Committee meeting. Jay Flemming, Jeff Luke, and Barbops reviewed the balls in question and did find a foreign substance on the balls. But before the league could rule on the usage of Coyle's balls, a nearby Jeff Hewett dowsed the ball with hot sauce and dunked them in Barbops' beer.

"What the hell are you doing?" Luke yelled at Hewett. "I know what it's like to have your balls handled by this league and what it does to one's reputation. I don't want Coyle to go through that like I had to." Hewett replied.

Barbops, not to be deterred from finishing his beer, pounded his beer and gave Coyle is ball back. Coyle has been put on administrative warning and his balls are subject to inspection by a league Rules Committee member each week.

League wrap-up:

In 3rd place this week was pre-putting Scott Wilson. His absence allowed another first: Scott Verost finished in the money for the first time in his career taking home 2nd place money despite finishing 4th in the week.

And because Conschafter also pre-putted, Bryan An continues his hot streak, finishing tied for 5th but took home 3rd place money. An has been quite the surprise of 2022 finishing in the top-7 each of the first two weeks and tied for 3rd overall, and also is the pre-putt leader for week-3 with a 38 & 1.

Barbops finished with a respectable 39 & 1 to stay in contention for the league championship tied for 3rd with An.

Highest-ranked rookie, Jason Cox sits alone at 5th overall after tying with 4 others in 8th place in week-2. Cox, Hewett, Luke, Coyle, and week-1 green jacket winner and league leader Flemming, all tied for 8th place with a 40 & 1.

Just one hole in one away from that group was Mike Mondoux, Pat Holden, and 10-stroke improver Dominic LoVallo who all shot a 40 & 0. When asked how he improved so much from week-1 to week-2, Dom replied "The first week I was with some pretty bad putters that didn't give me any good reads. This week, I putted with some veterans and they helped me greatly. I'll wear that green jacket this year. Guaranteed." He's got 8 more weeks to make his dream happen!

Tied for 16th was Brenan Dracup and Harald Rehm at 41 & 0. Harald's finish was good for Harald as well as Dracup as a tie keeps him in the "Harald Challeng-ed".

Harald's finish was not good for Joel Cady and Nick Keil who were bounced after shooting 42 & 0 and 47 & 0 respectively.

Rob Vickers who was the pre-season rookie of the year candidate pre-putted and shot a 42 & 0 to finish tied for 18th.

Mark Verost who post-putted shot a 50 & 0 and thought that was good for last place.

But there was one more putter to record a score. Thinking she may have shot the course record for highest recorded score, Kelly Caito turned in a 53 & 0. The good news is that her 53 is actually tied for the 4th worst recorded score in league history. Our very own Harald owns that record with a 56 & 0. James Geniti and Tony Rotella each have a 54 & 1, while James has 3 additional scores of 53 in the record books. Caito is determined to improve her score by 10 strokes this week, just like her son boyfriend nephew!
