Post-round write-ups from the commissioner

TONAWANDA, NY – Mike Mondoux won, and yes—it happened. But it was so long ago the league has already memory-holed it, filed it next to last year’s excuses, and moved on to the only thing that matters: who’s trending, who’s choking, and who’s “suddenly not available” when the pressure hits.

On the teams front, Team Duffy is officially out of the teams competition. Meanwhile, John Coyle is still leading the league, hanging onto the top spot like it’s the last Miller High Life in the cooler and someone just yelled “last call.”

And the Ryder Cup? Huge success—45 participants showed up, talked trash, and (mostly) pretended the rules were clear. When the dust settled, Team Kelly Caito came out on top—an absolute stunner and, without question, her first real accomplishment of her PIH career. Put it in the record books, circle it, and let the league bitch about it forever.

Now with the dust settling and the final stretch in sight, it’s time to see who’s trending up, who’s falling apart, and who’s just holding steady and praying nobody notices. Here are this year's arrows—UP, DOWN, and NEUTRAL—in order of their current standings.

DOWN: John Coyle may be a surprise arrow down, leading the league basically from day one. But he started off so hot, it’s impossible for him to continue this pace. His stamina is not there. Expect a really bad round the last three weeks, and Coyle to finish 3rd at best at the end of the season.

UP: Mike Mondoux has 1 round in the 40s and that came in week 4. Otherwise, he’s again solid and a favorite each week…favorite to complain the most.

NEUTRAL: Chris Wilkinson will shoot in the high 30s and rarely break 40. He has one round of 40 this year and that came in week 5. Expect him to contend but not win the next three weeks.

DOWN: Shawn Conschafter hasn’t shot a round in the 40s yet this year. He also hasn’t pre-gamed like he is accustomed to and for that reason alone, his arrow is down. Let’s face it: if Concho isn’t hammered, what value to the league does he bring?

UP: Jeff Hewett is Mr. Consistent…until he decides to turn it on and shoot a league record 33+5. Hewett is a contender as long as he distances himself from Harald.

DOWN: Tom Barbops was at one time a threat every week. Not so in 2025 and he knows it. With a week 7 score of 40, his season is all but over.

DOWN: Justin Bridenbaker was fire the first 5 weeks, but since then he’s cooled down a bit. If history is a predictor of the future, he’s gonna shoot in the 40s two of the last three weeks. Bet on it.

UP: Jeff Luke is not having the season the league expects from this perennial contender. If it were anyone else, it would be a good season. His arrow up is given because he got through his worst rounds. Expect a green jacket in the final three weeks.

UP: Joe Neeson has three rounds of 38 and only one blemish of a 44 in week 5. At some point this fragile putter will collapse and he has three weeks to do it. Bet on it.

DOWN: Alex Keil wants a green jacket like his brother and that is his driving motivation. Unfortunately, his bourbon consumption and lack of practice rounds cost him the chance at being a winner, so he resorts to being a drinker and we’re okay with that.

DOWN: Jim Randles won the green jacket in week 2. What has he done since: NOTHING. He’s averaged a 40 the last two weeks and is back to his normal self: missing gimmies and laying up short.

DOWN: Scott Verost was very confident after the first two weeks, shooting a 38 & 35. That confidence led to a 41, 43, and 44 in three of the following four weeks. At the end of the day, he’s a Verost and Verosts are not known for their putting.

DOWN: Nick Keil always starts off the PIH with hope but then reality quickly takes over. Most men that retire get better at golf, not Nick. As his retirement continues, so does his slide to mediocrity.

DOWN: Steve Maziarz has been shooting his best rounds of his LIFE this year, so why is he here? With an early round of 45, Steve shot the next four rounds in the 30s. The issue: they were bullshit. He pre/post putted with Neville. The last two rounds he’s been in attendance, he shot a 41 and 40. He’s back to normal: sucking.

UP: Jim Neville has been the center of much controversy in 2025 given his pre- and post-putt bullshit. What isn’t bullshit is his improvement in 2025. Expect a major decline in the final three weeks as his attendance is closely monitored.

UP: Jake Donn has come on strong in 2025, likely having to do with the pre-putting shenanigans that have been documented. Depending on his attendance, his game will likely be good (if he’s absent) or bad (if he attends).

DOWN: Jay Flemming’s commitment to PIH is in question. With his numerous missed weeks, taking an absent score in week 6, and his lack of wing and beer consumption after, he has his SCOPIH seat in question. League officials are considering stripping his seat like they did Coyle, and Flemming is on notice.

UP: Dom LoVallo won his first green jacket of his career in week 6. He followed that up with a 34th-place finish the next week, then choked under pressure in the Ride Her Cup. His arrow up is because of his green jacket and his green jacket alone. All things considered, it’ll be another year before he wins another jacket.

UP: Scott Lis doesn’t know how to draft a winning team at the Ride Her Cup, but he is quietly putting together a decent season for himself. Given his high score came in week 1, Lis is a year away from contender status. Until then, he’ll show moments of brilliance but follow it up with a moment of pure garbage.

DOWN: Trevor Duffy shows sparks at times and other times shows why he’s not in the discussions for a green jacket any week. Expect peaks and valleys from his game, with mostly valleys.

DOWN: Kevin Wylke was as shocked as anyone by his two rounds of 37. Frankly, most are shocked by his last two rounds of 43 and 40. Wylke is here for the camaraderie. He’s a bottom feeder and that’s okay with him, which is why we keep him around.

UP: Brett Verost is the only Verost headed in the right direction. But that’s not saying much. You never know what Brett’s going to shoot and neither does he. He’s the only Verost to not win a green jacket and we don’t expect that to change in the next two-plus years at least.

DOWN: Bill Shaflucas has three rounds in the 30s and for him, that is unbelievable. For others in the league, they know it’s bullshit. Pre- and post-putt shenanigans are the likely cause of his abnormally high scores, but until the league changes its rules, he’ll have trouble sleeping at night. Arrow down.

UP: Chris Czopp , in one of the most statistically wild things the league has seen, has the exact same average in his first 5 rounds as An, and the exact same average in his last two weeks as An. As if it wasn’t hard enough to tell the difference between the two, they both have an arrow up.

NEUTRAL: Jim Riley’s 41 average score has him knocking on the door of Nick for ROY. The key to Jim’s success will be the luck of the draw and who he gets paired with, as he tends to play down with less-than-average groups. Look for Jim to make a push in the final three weeks.

UP: Nick Terranova is looking to take home the Rookie of the Year award and with a rookie-best 40.71 score, he’s the odds-on favorite. Now that he knows there is such an award, he’ll crumble. Look for a 49+ round in the next two weeks.

UP: Jeff with a G Zander in his second year is starting to learn the course. He’s still only broken 40 once this year so an arrow up is a feel-good award and the only award he’ll win in PIH this century.

UP: Bryan An is starting to show he’s not the bottom feeder he once was. Is he still loud as fuck in the bar? Yes! Does he still claim to be anything but North Korean? Yes. But is he posting rounds in the 50s? No. His arrow is up!

DOWN: Harald Rehm plays for one week: The Ryder Cup. And this year, his team sucked. Rehm’s season is over with three weeks left and let’s face it, it was over with 10 weeks left. Expect a round in the 50s soon.

DOWN: Anthony Putnam had a couple of rounds in the 30s but overall he has not gotten a hang of the course and his 45+ rounds will kill him. He’s got potential but that potential is years away from sticking.

UP: Joel Cady missed 2 of the first 5 weeks so his attendance the last 2 weeks alone makes his arrow up. He still has little chance week over week at winning a green jacket but don’t tell him. He thinks he still has a shot.

UP: Eric Alstrom has shown at times he knows what he’s doing. And then he plays the other 17 holes and has no fucking clue. The only bright side to his game is his wardrobe.

UP: Connor Oakley has 3 rounds of 41 including his last 2. His dedication to the game and the want to win will drive him to break 40 this year…or he’ll fail miserably, which is most likely what will happen.

UP: Mike Meinzer was the last putter to join the league this year and he’s starting to get the hang of it. Hasn’t broken 40 yet but Vegas says he will in the last 3 weeks. Vegas gets a lot of things wrong. This is likely one of them.

DOWN: Mark Verost hasn’t won a green jacket in years and given his lack of commitment to the game, it will be years before he wins again. He’s getting closer to his brother Brett’s scores and let’s face it, that’s never a good thing.

NEUTRAL: Scott Hamilton has not shot a round of 40 or better and his worst score is a pair of 46s. He’s your average guy. And he’ll likely be an average guy for the next two-plus seasons. He’s not a threat and he’s not a bottom feeder. He’s just there.

DOWN: Rod Pirson is anything but Hot Rod. With scores ranging from 42 to 46, what does one expect from him but to be irrelevant in weeks 8-9-10. Thanks for the donations, see you at the banquet.

DOWN: Keith Fitzner was an early ROY candidate until he learned how competitive the league was. Vegas expects big things from Fitz…in 2026. For the rest of 2025, he’ll suck.

NEUTRAL: Austin Brass wants to be better but he doesn’t put the effort in. Austin hasn’t broken 40 yet and until then, he’s a non-factor. We need to see him on the course on off-days before he can be seen as a threat.

UP: Dave Don shot a 50 in his first round and has a 46 and a 42 in his last two rounds. On top of the better scores, he has thrown a Red Flag on Coyle so he is certainly deserving an arrow up.

UP: Brenan Dracup’s attendance and reading comprehension has killed him in 2025. When he putts, he’s not horrible. I mean, he’s still not breaking 40 but he’s also not putting 50s. Still, the worst putter to have worn the green jacket by far.

UP: Steve Wehr’s best score is a 42 so one might ask, “why the arrow up?” Fair question. Answer: he’s sucked less the last 2 weeks. Chances are, he’ll suck again the last 3 weeks.

NEUTRAL: Kelly Caito only has one round in the 50s, which is a positive for her. Her best round is a 43, which is a positive for her. When will she finish in the top 4 in a given week? Likely never. But she’s okay with that and so is the rest of the league.

UP: Kim Schmoyer has two rounds in the 50s but none the last two weeks. Kim’s determined to be seen as a threat by the established putters in the league. That respect will have to be earned and it may take a while to get there, but if anyone can do it…nah, she won’t get there any time soon (no mercy from the PIH Press).
