Post-round write-ups from the commissioner

TONAWANDA, NY – Week 4 of the Putter-In-Hand league brought big wins, court-packing drama, and election season fever as Team Grand Island continued its dominant streak. This week, it was Justin Bridenbaker who rose to the occasion, taking home his first career green jacket with a score of 43+3. Hot on his heels was fellow Grand Islander Mike Mondoux, who posted an impressive 35+2 after a meticulous pre-putt with the commish. The low scores posted kept Team Grand Island firmly on top, much to the frustration of rival putters.

As Grand Island putters tightened their grip on the league, election season brought new tensions, with an unexpected twist aimed at breaking up their monopoly. In a bid to curb the Island’s influence, Nick Keil, who wishes to remain anonymous, successfully petitioned for a ballot to add two new seats to the Supreme Court of Putter In Hand (SCOPIH). His proposal? To “pack the court” and prevent what he called “Team Grand Island’s chokehold on the league.” When pressed for comments, Keil anonymously claimed, “It’s for the good of the league. We need a fair and balanced SCOPIH. Grand Island can’t rule forever.”

The stakes are high, and the candidates for the SCOPIH seats reflect the intense rivalry within PIH. On the ballot are:

Steve Maziarz (Team Grand Island) - Maziarz, who bought his way on the ballot, brings little threat on the course and is running on zero platform.

Mike Mondoux (Team Grand Island) - Mondoux is a constant threat on the course and pledges to bring equality to the handicap.

Nick Keil (Team London) - Keil has pledged to "not let any more illegals from the island into the league by building a wall and making the islanders pay for it!"

Jay Flemming (Team London) - Flemming has pledged to cut beer prices and make wings free for every putter.

Scott Verost (Team River Hoax) - Verost is looking to bring a fresh voice from the underdog side of the league that no one knew existed.

With voting in full swing, the league is buzzing with anticipation. Who will win these new seats, and how will they shift the league’s power dynamics? For now, the top of the leaderboard tells a clear story: John Coyle has pulled ahead with an uncomfortable lead, sitting just above Chris Wilkinson and this season’s biggest surprise, Jim Neville. Together, they represent Grand Island’s ongoing reign, with the top three spots firmly in their grasp.
